Search Path Mock Ups
Coldwell Banker United Realtors has a company that spans six states with thousands of agents. The main goal of designing a new homepage is to make their regional sites more assessable. Heavily promoted through print and other advertising this is the flag ship of the Coldwell Banker United Business and needed to be more functional in directing users to appropriate property listings as well as other relocation or agent information.
A main piece of this improved used path was the Property Search on the homepage. Graphically it had to be intuitive in communicating the search process, but not take up much of the screen space. Different mock-ups were put together illustrating the different search field layouts and ultimately there were many factors beyond design that went into the final decision. The final search was one that spanned 6 states and multiple MLS's making this a great success for Coldwell Banker United.
Consumer Path Mock Ups for Regional Site
As users become more skilled in using the web certain features become under used or simply lose their appeal. In this case the map feature normally used to provide some visual barring on an area and a secondary search path was in question. Coldwell Banker United saw this as a chance to utilize the previous map space for a different purpose that aligned closer with company goals. The space was used to show off their high-end listings and the associated Previews Brand.
